Contemplation & Action

"What we plant in the soil of contemplation, we shall reap in the harvest of action."
--Meister Eckhart

As we think, so we are ... simply put. :-) Be careful what you wish for, cause you might just get it all.

Extraordinary & Ordinary

"Do not wait for extraordinary circumstances to do good action; try to use ordinary situations."
--Jean Paul Richter

What a profound message to all of us. How many times we hope we have a break in our daily lives where we can just be extraordinary. May be too much influence from action films or superhero figures.

But why don't we just focus on the ordinary and be totally present in it. Give our best shot make it extraordinary in the ordinary way.

When Garfield Is Oh So Wise .....

Can you believe that Garfield is actually quite wise? Check out some of his words of wisdom.

"I gotta be me. I'm too weird to be anyone else."

"Anything worth doing is worth overdoing."

"DO NOT DISTURB. I'm disturbed enough already."

"'Organised' is my middle name. 'Poorly' is my first."

"You are only young once but you can be immature forever."

"When in doubt, act stupid."

and my favourite, the one that I need to keep reminding myself all the time:

"I Don't Do Ordinary."

Religion & Behaviour

"Religion doesn't prevent one to inherit and practice vituperation." - D.D.

A horrible experience of witnessing someone of a strong Christian belief whose act of barbarian was worse than anything I've ever seen.

Punishment

"It's not a punishment to remember someone you love. The punishment is to forget him."

Source: Nyfes (Movie)

Hmmm .... I haven't watched this movie so I'm not sure how the tagline was inspired from the show. However I can relate on the pain of trying to forget instead of trying to remember. May be some memory is not meant to be forgotten since they bring so much pain in forgetting. May be it's just meant to be that way.

Future & Past

"I like the dreams of the future better than the history of the past."
-Thomas Jefferson

And yet most of us are so caught up with our past that we forget that our future can indeed be better.

Alcohol

"Alcohol may be man's worst enemy, but the Bible says love your enemy." - Frank Sinatra

Source: www.Forbes.com

Well, well ... something on the lighter side. I find this quote interesting. I really love how words are being played candidly :-) Don't take it too seriously, guys! But then again it's worth pondering. If alcohol is our enemy and yet we do love it why can't we love our human enemy as much. Why do we need to keep having war with each other? That ... will really the greatest mystery of all. May be the aliens from other planets will have an answer one day.

Inconsistency & Weakness

"Inconsistency with ourselves is the great weakness of human nature." - Joseph Addison

Source: www.Forbes.com

Though there's another theory that says human nature is inconsistent but I think what this quote is trying to say we have to have our own principles. Just like the foundations of the building. We may have zillion of opinions and perspectives on something but when it comes to principle to be our guiding light, we'd better decide what we want to believe in. If not we will be easily uprooted.

There's A Fine Fine Line

Heard this song at Hossan Leong's mini concert. It's actually from a Broadway Musical called Avenue Q. Such a meaningful song that contains tons of beautiful quotes. Indeed there's a fine fine line to almost anything you thought are wide apart. Enjoy the video and the lyrics.

There's a fine, fine line between a lover and a friend;

There's a fine, fine line between reality and pretend;
And you never know 'til you reach the top if it was worth the uphill climb.

There's a fine, fine line between love
And a waste of time.

There's a fine, fine line between a fairy tale and a lie;
And there's a fine, fine line between "You're wonderful" and "Goodbye."
I guess if someone doesn't love you back it isn't such a crime,
But there's a fine, fine line between love
And a waste of your time.

And I don't have the time to waste on you anymore.
I don't think that you even know what you're looking for.
For my own sanity, I've got to close the door
And walk away...
Oh...

There's a fine, fine line between together and not
And there's a fine, fine line between what you wanted and what you got.
You gotta go after the things you want while you're still in your prime...

There's a fine, fine line between love
And a waste of time.
